Consider which bathroom hardware is best for your design – towel bars, hooks, or rings.

Remodeling your bathroom can be an exciting undertaking, although it can sometimes feel daunting. This is because there are countless design decisions to make down to the minor details. In addition to selecting tiles, paint colors, sink styles, mirrors, and more, you must choose your favorite bathroom hardware. Have you considered whether you have room to hang towel bars by the shower? What about by the sink to hold hand towels? Do you prefer a simple hook for your towels? There are always more decisions to make than you may realize. Fortunately, we can help break down the basics for you. WalterWorks Hardware can help you learn more about bathroom bars, rings, and hooks to determine which suits your needs best.

First, Consider Your Bathroom Design Goals

When it comes to your bathroom hardware, you want to design a bathroom that fits your lifestyle and comfort. Before selecting your bathroom hardware, consider who will be using the bathroom. For instance, are you remodeling a spacious main bathroom for one or two people? A central bathroom for parents and children to use? Or are you designing a guest bathroom that will be used infrequently? Next, consider the space you have in your bathroom. If you have space for a separate bath and shower, you may have room for multiple towel bars. A compact bathroom, however, may benefit best from a towel ring or hook.

Towel Bars

Towel bars are a great option if you have a lot of space near your tub or shower. Towel bars let you dry your damp towels without bunching them up, so they dry faster than those on a hook or ring. Towel bars are available in multiple lengths, so you may want to measure your towels and choose a long bar to accommodate your favorite set of bath linens. If you have extra space and want a little more luxury, a towel warmer may be an additional option.

Towel Hooks

Hooks are a great, practical choice for small bathrooms that multiple people will use. A small bathroom may only have enough open wall space for one 24-inch towel bar. However, that same space could accommodate three or four hooks. If several people use the bathroom regularly, you can assign a hook for each person so no one uses or handles another person’s towel. You can also use these hooks to hold robes or shower caps if you want convenient space for those items.

Towel Rings

Because of their size, towel rings are bathroom hardware best suited for small spaces. They are often placed near the sink in a powder room or half bathroom. The hooks are designed to hold hand towels or other small towels, so it’s best to install these within easy reach of the sink. This prevents people from dripping water across the room after they’ve washed their hands!

By putting a little thought into your bathroom hardware, you can find the best ways to take advantage of your available space without sacrificing style or convenience.
