4 Helpful Tips for Remodeling Your Bathroom

Remember these tips when designing your new bathroom remodel.

Are you thinking about remodeling your bathroom as summer turns to fall? This is a great time of year to get this home design upgrade completed. A beautiful bathroom makes much more of a difference in how you feel, which can be a surprise if you don’t often think about it that way! The question is, how can you make sure the project is successful? Easy, just follow these tips!

Start with a Budget

Investing in both your property and yourself begins with a budget. Keeping costs under control is essential, especially when it comes to remodeling your home and your bathroom. So when it comes to settling on a budget, you’ll have to answer a set of preliminary questions. For instance, when do you plan on selling your home? Do you want to move the plumbing lines? What parts of the bathroom do you want to keep? And finally, just how much can you spend?

Decide on the Type of Bathroom

The next step is to choose the type of bathroom you want to have. This phase depends on the type of bathroom you already have and are working on at the moment. These options include standard bathrooms, half baths, and wet baths. Despite what the name implies, wet baths are configured so that every surface inside it is completely waterproofed including the floor, the cabinets, and the walls.

Create Your Layout

Next, it is time to plan your layout. The size and shape of the room will determine what you can do. Before you can settle on the aesthetics, you have to factor in the dimensions. More often than not, the current layout is already optimized, so you won’t have to worry about moving fixtures around. Even so, sometimes conversions or expansions become necessary.

Do You Want a Bathtub?

Although bathtubs are considered a classic staple of full baths, this does not automatically mean you need to include one in your remodeled bathroom. Showering is more in vogue than taking a bath; plus baths tend to use up more water than showers do. Luxury bathrooms are a fantastic addition to any master bathroom. In the end, the real tiebreaker is whether or not you plan on selling your home in the near future – if you want to move, then keeping one tub is a good idea. On the other hand, if you want to age in place or just stay in your current home, then you can feel free to do as you please.
