A Guide to Selecting the Right Cabinet Pulls and Knobs

A Guide to Selecting the Right Cabinet Pulls and Knobs

Here is a helpful guide that will be a huge asset when it comes time to choosing the right cabinet pulls and knobs.

Your hardware might come last during a remodeling project, but that doesn’t mean it is the least important. You just have so many other options and decisions to make, especially when you are giving your kitchen cabinets a brand new look. Here is a helpful guide that will be a huge asset when it comes time to choosing the right cabinet pulls and knobs.

A Knob or Pull?

Let’s start with the most important question to answer. Do you want a doorknob or a pull on your cabinet? One silver lining is that there aren’t any hard and fast rules you need to follow. It all comes down to preferences. Knobs are fine for small cabinets, but for larger doors, such as those on a pantry or trash compartment, you should go with a pull instead.

Square or Curved?

The next question you’ve got on your hands has to do with the cabinet itself. Are the cabinets going to be square or curved? Some square cabinets include shaker, modified shaker, and flat panel. Rounded or curved cabinets include pillow-top doors, recessed panels, beaded, and traditional raised panel doors.

Finish

Now that you know what the hardware and cabinets are going to look like, it’s time to move on to your next selection. In other words, what finish do you want? Chrome and brushed nickel are the most popular, but they don’t need to be your only choices. Other possibilities include pewter, brass, bronze, aluminum, matte, and glass.

Comfort

Another tip is to feel how comfortable the new accessories are. Typically, this part of the process would involve going to a showroom, but perhaps that isn’t as easy to do these days unless you head to a hardware store. Some companies are willing to send you samples that you can test out before you buy, and all you have to do is pay for shipping. That might be more realistic, and honestly, easier to do in these trying times.

Overall Costs

Finally, you’ve got to consider costs. While you might think it’s more convenient for you to visit a hardware store, you might not get the best values – but it will give you an idea of a direction you want to go in when you talk to the experts here at WalterWorks Hardware!
