Have you ever seen a kitchen on television and think “I love their sink”? Not many people notice the style of a kitchen sink. But many people will notice if it doesn’t fit right into their kitchen or their lifestyle. There are many different kinds of kitchen sinks for you to choose from for your home. Let’s take a look at these kitchen sinks and why kind of statement they make for your kitchen.

Single Bowl Sinks

Single bowl sinks only have one basin. While many homeowners assume having more than one basin is better, that isn’t always correct. Single bowl sinks are usually a compact size, making them ideal for smaller kitchens where space is short. The basin of a single bowl sink is also larger than a double bowl sink because it is designed to fit the same space. Single bowl sinks make it easy to clean larger dishes like oven trays and pots. They are easier to clean due to lack of corners and give you plenty of space to work with.

Double Bowl Sinks

The double bowl sinks can be found in modern kitchens everywhere. These kitchen sinks are ideal because they allow the user to be flexible. Double bowl sinks come in a variety of configurations including two equally-sized bowels, two bowls that are different depths, two bowls that are different lengths, and more. The right set up for you will depend on what you do in your kitchen and the size of your kitchen countertops.

Farmhouse Kitchen Sinks

Farmhouse sinks are characteristically defined as a large forward-facing sink that replaced a section of the countertop. Farmhouse sinks, also called apron sinks, are often used in kitchens with traditional or country-style designs. Farmhouse sinks are available in single or double basin varieties but the sink bowls are more common. Your countertop will need to be designed specifically for a farmhouse kitchen sink so beware of the extra costs this may incur.

Top Mount Sinks

Top mount kitchen sinks are designed to be dropped into a hole in the kitchen countertop. This is the most common type of sink and one of the easiest to install. The rim or lip of the sink will hold it into place and create a finished look. They are relatively inexpensive and easily installed. However, they are not sleek or as modern as other sinks.

Undermount Kitchen Sinks

Undermount kitchen sinks are mounted underneath the countertops, giving your kitchen a clean, modern appearance. Undermount kitchen sinks and typically more expensive due to their installation costs. These sinks also do not come with a faucet so one will have to be installed on your countertop. Undermount sinks are easy to clean as the dirt is swept right into your sink and they are good to go.
